About the project

Welcome to our climate change education and green skills project—a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering the Global South with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Why Bangladesh?

Situated on the front lines of climate change, Bangladesh faces a heightened risk of climate-induced disasters. These events often disproportionately affect the nation's most vulnerable communities, underscoring an urgent need for tailored, effective solutions.

Empowerment through education

Traditionally, climate change strategies and educational programs have been dominated by top-down, Northern-led approaches. This has led to a significant gap in contextual knowledge and practical green skills in the regions that need them most. Our project challenges this status quo by pioneering a co-designed, practice-based curriculum that emerges directly from the needs and innovations of the Global South.

Locally-led, globally relevant

Our comprehensive program is structured around several key work-packages, each designed to foster sustainable development and transition to a low-carbon economy through education and skill development:

Transformative curriculum development
We shift the educational discourse towards a practice-based approach that incorporates local insights and realities. By co-designing short online courses with stakeholders from various sectors, we equip students, professionals, and practitioners with the green skills demanded by employers today, ensuring they are ready for the jobs of tomorrow.

Community empowerment and mobilization
Our project engages Community Ambassadors in the co-design and co-development of training guides, enhancing local awareness and action towards a greener economy. This grassroots approach ensures that the knowledge disseminated is not only relevant but also actionable within local contexts.

Sustainable knowledge sharing
We are creating a Southern-led platform that acts as a global repository for regional resources, case studies, and training materials. This ensures the long-term sustainability and accessibility of the project's outputs, making them available well beyond the funding period.
